The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends offering coronavirus (COVID-19) testing in schools. COVID-19 testing helps schools identify cases of COVID-19 quickly and reduce the risk of COVID-19 infections at school. For the 2021-22 school year, Mundo Verde is participating in two COVID-19 testing programs.

COVID-19 Testing 1: Mobile Covid-19 

Mobile Covid-19 will provide weekly PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) and the Rapid Antigens lab tests on Thursdays. Both tests will be run at the same time. The samples will be collected via nasal swab (sample collected from lower nasal cavity). The swab takes only a few moments and is painless. The swabs are then processed and sent to the laboratory. For rapid testing, swabs will be processed at the office.

COVID-19 Testing 2: ShieldT3 

This program uses a saliva-based PCR test, which you can learn more about here: www.shieldt3.com/k12/. The testing program will provide both symptomatic and asymptomatic testing. Asymptomatic testing is testing for COVID-19 even if a student does not have symptoms of COVID-19, including routine “screening” testing. Symptomatic testing is done if a student develops symptoms of COVID-19 while at school. Mund Verde plans to conduct Shield T3 asymptomatic testing weekly for at least between 10-20% of the campus population. This means your child may not be tested every week. Symptomatic students will also be tested with this program. 

You must fill out and return the opt-out form on the next page for your child if you wish to opt-out of the testing program. Your opt-out will be recorded and your child will not be selected or eligible for testing. This opt-out form is valid for the 2021-22 school year, but you may revoke your opt-out at any time by sending a written letter or email to your campus stating that you would like your child to receive COVID-19 testing. 

By signing below, I attest that:

• I have read and understand the information provided and DO NOT wish to participate in the the Shield T3 or the Mobile COVID-19 LLC Testing Program

• I understand that by NOT participating in the school-based COVID-19 testing program, the relevant school and health authorities will have less information about the potential presence and spread of COVID-19 in the school community. 

• I understand that if the student is identified as a close contact of a COVID-19 case or is symptomatic, the student will not be eligible to be tested under the school-based COVID-19 testing program unless I revoke this opt-out.

• I have signed this form freely and voluntarily, and I am legally authorized to make decisions for the student named below

• I may change my decision at any time and elect to participate in the school-based COVID-19 testing programs. However, my opt-out is valid for the 2021-22 school year unless I notify the school in writing that I revoke this opt-out.

Las pruebas de COVID-19 ayudan a las escuelas a identificar los casos de COVID-19 rápidamente y a reducir el riesgo de infecciones por COVID-19 en la escuela. La prueba sintomática se realiza si un alumno presenta síntomas de COVID-19 mientras está en la escuela. Mundo Verde planea realizar pruebas asintomáticas Shield T3 semanalmente para al menos entre el 10% y el 20% de la población del campus. Esto significa que es posible que su hijo/a no sea examinado todas las semanas. Los alumnos sintomáticos también serán evaluados con este programa.
